Occupy event honors Martin Luther King Jr.

The first Occupy South Side Martin Luther King Jr. memorial walk will take place Tuesday.
The march will start at 4:30 on the corner of 63rd and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.  The silent march will continue down 71st, Emmitt Till Road, and end at St. Columbanus Church at 6 pm. 
"If we are going to have a peaceful community, we need to start with the self," said Marissa Brown, organizer of the Occupy the South Side.
Immediately after the march, a program will be held at the church, at 331 E. 71st St. Speakers include Rev Mike Knotekr, pastor of St. Columbanus, Frank Chapman, Alan Marshall and LeAlan Jones.
Guests will be able to sign and take a peace pledge, which will serve as a reminder to participate in peaceful opportunities throughout the community. Community building activities will take place at the end of the day.
