In Performance: ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’
By ERIK PIEPENBURG http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.comThis week’s video features Howard McGillin and Haley Bond in a scene from the Irish Repertory Theater’s production of “It’s a Wonderful Life: The 1946 Live Radio Play,” a stage adaptation of Frank Capra’s classic holiday film. Six actors play 25 characters in the show, which takes place in a 1940s radio station and features live sound effects, some of which are recreated in the video. The production, directed by Charlotte Moore, continues through Dec. 29.
Recent videos in this series include Kyle Riabko performing an arrangement of songs from “What’s It All About? Bacharach Reimagined,” at New York Theater Workshop, and Fiona Shaw in a scene from a new staged reading of Samuel Taylor Coleridge’s poem “The Rime of the Ancient Mariner.”
Coming soon: Bobby Moreno in a scene from the play “Year of the Rooster.”
