Greenville Restaurants, Theaters Open For Christmas Business
Police, deputies, firefighters, nurses, doctors, EMS crews, the Highway Patrol and other emergency workers worked Christmas day to keep us safe, while many of us had time off to spend with family and friends. While some were content to stay at home, others had to get out and about.
It was kind of an odd sight Wednesday: no cars in the Greenville Boulevard Walmart parking lot, or Target or the Greenville Mall. Christmas is the one day all employees at big box stores and malls get the day off to be with their loved ones, so gas stations like Sheetz on Firetower Road were left to pick up the shopping slack. Movie Theaters are traditionally open Christmas day too.
"We usually go see it every Christmas, whatever the new, latest Christmas movie is," said Tammi Grooms.
To appease the hunger of holiday movie goers, we found some restaurants were open, including the International House of Pancakes and East Coast Wings near the Greenville Grande Theater.
"Staying open for us is always profitable, we do a lot more sales because we're one of the only restaurants open in town," said East Coast Wings manager David Aleo.
We found a few restaurants open today and several gas stations with convenience stores had a steady crowd. Most stores will be back to normal business hours Thursday.
