Don't believe everything you read on the Internet, folks. Despite a falsified Facebook post running rampant on social media, the actress is not currently donning a buzz cut.
According to a supposed screenshot of Aniston's Facebook page, she decided to cut her hair off in honor of a niece who was diagnosed with cancer a year ago.
"Once her hair started to fall off, she was depressed and terrified to look in the mirror. She recently asked me why she wasn't pretty like all the other girls. I didn't know how to react. So, I cut my hair off for her. This Christmas I'll be her mirror," the fake post said.
As touching as this gesture sounds, it isn't true.
A rep for the starlet told JustJared.com the story is nonsense.
"I'm not aware of any niece with cancer," the rep said.
So where did this picture of Aniston featuring a new 'do originate from?
Just Jared discovered the picture is a throwback from her "Friends With Money" movie premiere in 2006, in which Aniston is seen with her hair in a ponytail on the red carpet.
The picture was photoshopped as an April Fools prank earlier this year. Only recently did it resurface with a tale about Aniston's niece having cancer.
The actress did, however, dramatically alter her hairstyle. She chopped off her signature hair for a bob last month, telling Elle U.K. a disastorous Brazilian hair treatment made her do it.
