Morris County snow updates for Thursday: School closings, early dismissals
MORRIS COUNTY — Several school districts have already decided to dismiss students early Thursday due to the anticipated snowfall.
Here's a partial list of early dismissals throughout the Morris County area for Jan. 2 as of 10 a.m.:
• Boonton Public Schools: John Hill School will dismiss Grades 5-8 at 11:50 a.m.; John Hill School will dismiss Grades 1-4 at 12:45 p.m.; Boonton High School will dismiss students at 12:30 p.m.; School Street School will dismiss students at 12:30 p.m.
• Chester School District
• Denville: Valleyview will dismiss students at 11:41 a.m.; Lakeview will dismiss students at 12:13 p.m.; and Riverview will dismiss students at 12:43 p.m.
• Dover: The elementary schools will close at 12:30 p.m., and Dover Middle School and Dover High School will close at 12:15 p.m. Lunch will still be served to all students prior to dismissal.
• Kinnelon Public Schools: Kiel School will dismiss Grades K-2 at 1:35 p.m. and there will be no p.m. pre-school; Stonybrook School will dismiss Grades K, 3-5 at 1:25 p.m.; Pearl R. Miller School will dismiss at 12:55 p.m.; Kinnelon High School will dismiss at 12:20 p.m.
• Lincoln Park: Lincoln Park Middle School will dismiss students at 12:50 p.m.; Lincoln Park Elementary School will dismiss at 1:25 p.m.
• Madison: Madison High School will dismiss students at 12:36 p.m., Madison Junior School will dismiss at 12:55 p.m., the elementary school will dismiss at 1:15 p.m. All after-school and evening activities are canceled, and p.m. kindergarten is canceled.
• Mendham Borough Schools: 1 p.m. dismissal
• Montville Public Schools: All afternoon and evening activities are cancelled; M.E.D.L.C will operate on its regular schedule.
• Morris Knolls and Morris Hills Regional High Schools
• Morris School District
• Morris Plains School District: Early dismissal at 12:45 p.m.
• Morris County Vocational School: Noon dismissal
• Mountain Lakes: Mountain Lakes High School will dismiss at 12:25 p.m.; Briarcliff will dismiss at 12:15 p.m.; Wildwood will dismiss at 12:45 p.m.; and Lake Drive will dismiss at 12:45 p.m.
• Netcong Elementary School
• Parsippany-Troy Hills School District: Early dismissal, no school lunches served, no p.m. SKIP, no after school activities.
• Rockaway Borough: Thomas Jefferson and Lincoln School will have a 1 p.m. dismissal. All after school activities are canceled.
• Roxbury Public Schools: No p.m. kindergarten, no p.m. pre-school, and the 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. program will end at noon. All afternoon activities are cancelled.
• Washington Township Public Schools: Cucinella will dismiss students at 12:35 p.m.; Flocktown-Kossmann will dismiss students at 12:35 p.m.; Old Farmers Road will dismiss students at 1:35 p.m.; Long Valley Middle will dismiss students at 1:48 p.m.
• West Morris Central and West Morris Mendham High Schools
• Wharton Public Schools: Students will be dismissed at 12:40 p.m.

Some schools have opted to remain open, and, instead, have canceled after-school activities:
• Boonton Township: Rockaway Valley School will have a regular closing time of 2:30 p.m., and the YMCA Kids' Club will be in session. All other afternoon and evening activities are cancelled, and school offices will close at 3 p.m.
• Randolph: All after-school and evening activities have been canceled at Randolph Township Public Schools, and the Community School's p.m. KinderKids program will close at 3 p.m.
