AFC Wild Card 2014: Alex Smith with a shovel pass to Anthony Sherman extends lead
The Kansas City Chiefs are currently giving the Indianapolis Colts the what-for in the opening round of the 2013-2014 playoffs.
It’s something what expected but it’s still a bit overwhelming at the same time. This game got off to a great start with Kansas City jumping on the board first but allowed Indianapolis to respond with six points of their own.
Starting quarterback Alex Smith has been great all day as he’s completed 11/15 passing attempts for nearly 200 yards and already has three touchdown passes under his belt. He could be looking to shatter a post-season record with another half of football left.
So far today Smith has been able to find Dwayne Bowe, Donnie Avery and now fullback Anthony Sherman for touchdowns. Sherman’s touchdown reception came from a shovel pass as Alex Smith was looking to get away from Indy’s pressure after stepping up into the pocket.
The shovel pass looked like it had a bit of English put on it but it found it’s target which helped extend their lead to 24-7 at the time.
This would be a huge win for the Kansas City Chiefs if they can keep a hold of the lead.
