Cleveland Browns Rumors: Vincent Jackson Trade Option Before Josh Gordon Fantasy Return As Brian Hoyer Starts Over Johnny Manziel?

Sports World Report

The Cleveland Browns will keep Brian Hoyer as the starting quarterback over Johnny Manziel in Week 9 after he led the team to a victory in Week 8 against the Oakland Raiders and heading into the back stretch of the season, the team may look at a trade for someone like Vincent Jackson, as that would give the team a major one-two punch with Josh Gordon once he returns from suspension.
According to ESPN.com, the Buccaneers may look at trading Vincent Jackson or Doug Martin at the NFL trading deadline on Tuesday and the Browns could be a potential destination. Jackson has a big contract and he could be a player that gets moved, as he has been fairly productive over the past two seasons with back to back seasons of 1000 yards and at least 70 catches. Jackson has also caught 15 touchdowns over the past two seasons and this season he has 26 catches for 257 yards and two TDs.

Hoyer comes in after leading the Browns to a win against the Raiders and the next game for the Browns is against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, making it three straight games against terrible teams in the NFL and so far the Browns are 1-1 in that stretch. The team lost the Jaguars and took care of business against the Raiders and now they have a game against the Bucs.

Hoyer bounced back after his tough game against the Jacksonville Jaguars, which resulted in a loss for the Browns, throwing for 275 yards and completing 19 of 28 passes in the game. Hoyer has not been great, but he has been good enough for the Browns this season and if the team did not put in Manziel after the Jaguars game, it's likely that he will not start for the duration of the season. According to Pro Football Talk, Hoyer will be the starter in Week 9, but he will likely have to take the field without one of his best players in Jordan Cameron.
According to Rotoworld, Cameron suffered a head injury on Sunday in the game against the Raiders and as long as he passes concussion protocols, he will be in the lineup. Hoyer has been very solid for the Browns this season and while he has not had a 300-yard game yet, he has just two interceptions to go along with eight touchdowns and he is closing in on 2,000 passing yards for the season.

The Cleveland Browns came into Week 8 with Brian Hoyer as the starting quarterback over Johnny Manziel after the loss to the Jaguars and for the matchup against the Oakland Raiders, Ben Tate and Isaiah Crowell were strong options for fantasy owners. Heading into the second half of the season, Josh Gordon is the top fantasy football pick up, as his return is just a few weeks away after his suspension.
