FedEx, Quakertown business warn of fake emails
Bucks County Courier Times
Consumers should be on the lookout for fake emails that appear to be from FedEx, according to the company and a local mailing business.
Employees at a packaging center in Quakertown said Monday they had more than 30 people call or come in looking for packages that did not exist. They reported the problem to FedEx.
The emails carry the subject lines “Shipping Confirmation,” “Verify Info,” “Some important information is missing” and “Please fulfill the documents attached to verify your identity.”
FedEx warned the fraudulent emails may have an attached file that may contain a virus. Anyone who receives a message like this should not open the file or click on the attachment. Officials said to delete the email or immediately forward it to abuse@fedex.com
FedEx does not send unsolicited emails to customers requesting information regarding packages, invoices, account numbers, passwords or personal information, according to the company’s website.
